Community Housing Improvement Project – CHIP

Founded by Ruth Ives in 1984, The Community Housing Improvement Project, Inc. (CHIP, Inc.) is a non-profit organization that began as an ecumenical effort to help area residents who do not have sufficient resources or the ability to make basic repairs to their homes. The mission of CHIP, Inc. is simply, “Neighbors helping neighbors keep their homes safe, warm, and dry.”

CHIP was founded as a result of the awareness and compassion of Ruth Ives. The Carpenter’s Boat Shop is dedicated to supporting this aspect of Ruth’s legacy.
